It is the middle of summer, L.A. is now totally encased in ice. Dr. Eugene Kessler, is the one scientist who predicted catastrophis results from the outset. Now with his predictions coming ture, the airports are closed and Dr. Kessler's only hope for escape out of L.A. lies in keeping his appointment with a government ship, scheduled to pick him up at the Long Beach Harbor in a little less that 30 hours. But what was once a short civilized distance is now a vast wilderness of ice ruled only by chaos. Dr. Kessler must rely on the cunning and survival skills of Detective Drake and his group to see to it that he makes it to his destination on time. In exchange, Kessler has promised to bring them all to Guam, a stell warm and sunny Mecca in a world that has become a frozen wasteland.
