The one good thing that can be said about A Masterpiece in My Life is that it at least attempts to be artful. It is not so much a film as it is a film about the process of filmmaking. In this sense, the director has embraced a typically postmodern theme.

Consequently, the storyline is not so much about the realization of a dream as the process of pursuing a dream. Being a scenario writer or a filmmaker is obviously no easy task. If everyone were able to achieve such a daunting ideal, the field would lose its allure and would cease to be considered a dream.
