Audiences looking for a tight crime thriller will be duly rewarded with Punished, another acclaimed production from Hong Kong auteur Johnnie To's Milkyway Image. Director Law Wing Cheong (Tactical Unit: Comrades in Arms) creates ample suspense and tension in the cleverly plotted tale of retaliation and retribution, which reunites To's regular stars Anthony Wong and Richie Jen as a tyrannical tycoon hell-bent on revenge and his loyal executor respectively. Premiered at the Hong Kong International Film Festival 2011, the film co-stars Janice Man, Maggie Cheung Ho Yee, Candy Lo, Lam Lei, Jun Kung, Charlie Cho, and Anthony Wong's teenage son Wong Yat Yat in his screen debut.
When ruthless property developer Wong Ho Chiu (Anthony Wong) learns that his rebellious daughter Daisy (Janice Man) is kidnapped, he dismisses it as merely her self-orchestrated scheme to extort money from him. One wrong decision from Wong leads to the tragic death of Daisy, and the enraged and guilt-ridden father sends his trusted former bodyguard Yiu Kai Chor (Richie Jen) to hunt down the culprits and wreak violent vengeance on them. But as Yiu deals out punishment to the gang of kidnappers one by one, Wong finds that he too has to reap what he sowed...
