內容：
George has dreamed of leaving town for adventures and to see the world. His father's death forces him to stay and take over the building and loan company which enables the "Little" people to own their own homes. George marries but his honeymoon is cancelled with the famous run on the bank in 1932. Time passes. George and Mary rear 4 children. Then, bumbling uncle Billy misplaces a large bank deposit and George wishes he had never been born. A heavenly messenger appears to grant George his wish, but shows him what would happen to the town if he had not been born. Convinced, George cancels his wish, and the townspeople come to his assistance, thus teaching him the value of human friendship.
